The Story of Hamilton: An American Musical

(I know this doesn’t really fit into my blog but I’m planning on changing it) Hello everybody, I’m gonna give you an overview of one of the biggest musicals of our time. Hamilton is such an emotional rollercoaster that it makes you want to tell his story to anyone who’ll listen. I find this story pretty sad so if you’re not in the mood for a sad story maybe come back to my blog later. Without further ado, I give you the story of Alexander Hamilton.

Childhood

Hamilton was born in raised in the Caribians with no family. His father left him, his mother died, and when he moved in with his cousin his cousin committed suicide. He didn’t have the best childhood and it didn’t get better. His village was demolished by a hurricane that ultimately led him to America. After the hurricane, he did what he does best. He wrote about what was around him and his life. The people in his village were turned to kindness and raised enough money for him to go to America.

THE REVOLUTION!

Right when Hamilton got to America he started to speak out against Britain and slavery. When he joined the revolution he quickly became friends with major contributors to the revolution including John Laurens, Hercules Mulligan (he needs no introduction), Marquis de Lafayette, Arron Burr, and George Washington. George Washington hired Hamilton right on sight because of the way Hamilton was rising above his post and saving hundreds of lives. Meanwhile, Hamilton married Eliza Schuyler and made Angelica Schuyler kinda fall in love with him. Charles Lee and John Laurens had a duel because Lee was lying to the public about George Washington which gave Lee a bullet in the side and sent Laurens and Hamilton home. Then they soon realized that they need Hamilton and call him back as quick as they can. Soon after that America defeated England and gained its independence.

Post War Politics

After the war, Hamilton assessed the national debt and gave America the idea of a national bank. Politicians like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams did not like that idea because the southern states had paid their debts, unlike the northern states. Eventually, they made a compromise and the national bank was established. Hamilton cheats on his wife in this big weird thing that you really need to listen to the song “Say No To This”. When people start finding out he decides to come clean and publishes an article explaining everything about the affair.

The Duels

Years later Hamilton’s son named Philip heard someone give a speech dishonoring his father and challenges him to a duel. Philip points his gun towards the sky but is still shot and killed. Hamilton and Eliza move away from all the political mayhem and grieve their loss. Then the election of 1800 came around and made Hamilton make a hard decision. Thomas Jefferson and Arron Burr are running against each other and Hamilton is asked who he’ll vote for. He said Jefferson because Burr doesn’t have any apparent views. Burr is outraged and challenged Hamilton to a duel. On July 11th, 1804 Alexander Hamilton is fatally shot by vice President Arron Burr.

This musical is one of the greatest I’ve ever heard and requires you to listen to it. I highly recommend that you listen to it instead of just reading this. I couldn’t include many things that make this musical so great. Don’t throw away your shot to listen to this masterpiece. I’ll see yall later on my next post. 🙂

Whats a Nirvana?

Hello everybody! I’m sure you’ve all heard of the legendary band “Nirvana” but how much do you really know about them? Do you know anything about them except for a smiley face and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Well let me further your education on the awesome band that is “Nirvana.” I’ll tell you guys stuff in different sections so if you’re looking for anything in particular you can find it right away.

Members
There have been many members of Nirvana but there’s only a few you should really know. Kurt Cobain was the lead vocalist and guitarist. He also wrote all the music so he kinda carried the band. David Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana. After Nirvana broke up, he made a new band called The Foo Fighters which was and is a huge success. Krist Novocelic played the bass guitar. After Nirvana he didn’t really do much but he is a political activist.

Music
Nirvana is a Seattle grunge band that had huge success in the early 90s. They had three main albums that everyone should know. Bleach was there first album that wasn’t as big as these other two but really got the ball rolling with Nirvana. Nevermind was a HUGE success. It was one of ,if not, the biggest albums of the 90s. In Utero was there last album. It couldn’t pass the record before it, but was still an awesome album.

Story
Nirvana is one of the biggest names in rock history. They reshaped how we make music today and brought tons of new things to the rock world. There active time was the early 90s but there still huge today. After the success of In Utero Kurt Cobain sadly took his own life due to drugs which ended the band.

In conclusion Nirvana rocked hardcore and will always be remembered. You should really listen to their music because it’s so good. Dont talk to people about this band until you’ve at least listened to Nevermind. I’ll put a link down below to make it 20x easier for you to get there. Thanks for reading my blog and make sure to read the next post. Mikey out.

The 10 best rock songs of the 90s

Hello everybody! I’m back with another post about good old rock, well maybe not so old because we’re gonna look at songs from the 90s. Personally, I think all the best music is from the 90s. I mean there is tons of great music out there but if I had to choose one decade it would be the 90s. I’m going to share with you my ten favorite songs from these ten years. These songs are not in any specific order and I will only be doing one song per artist. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana

First of all I want to start with one of the more obvious songs on this list because anybody who has ever heard of the 90s knows this song. If you don’t believe me look up “The most popular song in the 90s” actually I’ll do you one better and put in a link. I love the guitar and drum harmony and even though you can’t tell a word that Curt Kobain (lead singer and guitarist) says it’s okay because its 90s grunge, it’s supposed to be like that.

Say It Ain’t So – Weezer

Moving on we have Say It Ain’t So which is a great song because of the guitar part during the chorus. Oh my god if I had a nickel for every time I got chills from this song. Rivers (lead singer and part 2 guitarist) rocks the vocals as usual but this song was very hard to choose because Weezer has such good music. The entire Blue Album is awesome. Every single song is seemingly perfect. I highly recommend this album to anyone and everyone.

Wonderwall – Oasis

Next we have Wonderwall which is one beautiful song. Oasis goes all out with a cello and a truly great acoustic part. Gallaghers (lead singer) voice fits perfectly with the peaceful feel of the song and the cello helps make his voice sound light but strong.

 Song 2 – Blur

Then theres Song 2. This song got its name because it was the second on the album. Very creative I know. But it was probably the most sensible name because you can make out about two words he says and when you look up the lyrics it makes about no sense. This is a flail your head around at a party kinda song because of the fast guitar and marble mouth words.

Sex & Candy – Marcy Playground

Now I know what you’re all thinking “What kind of a name is that?” but it’s okay. This song is not dirty at all. If you don’t giggle when you hear the word “sex” you should be fine. I love how this song switches from cords (multiple strings strum or picked at once to make harmony) to string picking (only one string) during the chorus. It’s a really chill song that makes you kinda doze off. I love to listen to it when I finish working on something or get done with a basketball game/practise because it really helps me relax.

Go – Pearl Jam

Go is literally INSANE. The guitar solos sound like Mike McCready (lead guitarist) is playing hot potato on the fretboard. I watched a video of him playing it once and it was like “where is is hand?” I don’t really know how to describe this song but with the word “wow.”

Drive – Incubus

Drive is one of those amazing acoustic pieces with great lyrics and suddle drum parts. I really shouldn’t say “one of those” because this song is a jem. It’s not crazy but not super relaxed and makes you go “do do do.” I can’t really do this song justice with words so you have to listen to it and realize that this should be on this list.

Bullet With Butterfly Wings – The Smashing Pumpkins

I love this song because of the drums. Believe me everything in this song is awesome but the drums really stick out to me. Often the drums carry the lyrics with its steady beat and occasional symbol crash. When he screams it doesn’t sound like the stereotypical ear bleeding sound but sounds good.

Everlong – Foo Fighters

This song has one of the coolest guitar parts ever. It’s just so perfect and fun to air guitar with. When I listen to this song I can’t do anything else but imagine David Groll (lead singer and part 2 guitarist) playing it.

All The Small Things – Blink-182

Last but not least we have All The Small Things. This is the kind of song that they play during the credits while the actors dance and they show bloopers. It’s such an upbeat song that it could make even the most stick-butt person start tapping their foot on the ground.

It’s about that time my friend. Unfortunately I could only put ten songs on this list because there are so many good songs from the 90s. I’ll make a playlist on Spotify with more songs and put it on my next post. Thanks for reading my blog and stay rad man.

Tom Pettys Musical Highlights

Welcome to my FIRST blog post. I will be telling you about the amazing journey of Tom Petty, the musical artist. I really want to show you who he was and give you a brief overview of his life. I hope you all enjoy this tribute to one of my favorite songwriters and performer.

On October 20th, 1950, in Gainesville Florida, the myth… the man… the legend… Tom Petty was born. Tom Petty grew up in Gainesville Florida and lived there his entire life and his love of rock started when he was ten and met Elvis Presley while helping his uncle set up for Elvis’s film, Follow That Dream, and knew he wanted to be in a band as soon as he watched the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show and that’s how a kick-butt career of rock started.

Tom Petty joined his first band called Mudcrutch in 1970 and broke up with them after releasing a not so good single in 1975. He then formed the band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1976 and started runnin down his dream. He was also in The Traveling Wilburys, a band with other popular artists at the time or as I like to call it, a power band, and The Peace Choir, another power band. Pppfffhhh, if that doesn’t prove how popular he was ( TWO power bands ) then I don’t know what will,

Their first album simply titled “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers” was a huge success with hits like “American Girl”, “Breakdown”, and “Anything That’s Rock’n Roll”. Then came out with another hit album called “You’re Gonna Get It” with even more classic Tom Petty songs in it. They then proceeded to come out with more albums and become super famous. He also came out with two extremely popular solo albums called “Full Moon Fever” in 1989 and “Wildflowers” in 1994. He also came out with so many great albums that you should check out at the end.

The reason I am writing this is because it was the two year anniversary of Tom Petty’s death last Wednesday and I thought I should tell people about how his career and how awesome he his. I personally love Tom Petty and I want to make people more aware of him and his music. I will be putting links to his artist page in Spotify below. Thanks, y’all for reading and have a radical day.
